In the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina there are many vacation homes, but there is nothing quite like the Yummy Mud Puddle. Nestled on ten acres amidst a tall forest, the Yummy Mud Puddle vacation home overlooks the rolling hills and valleys of Yancey County, roughly forty minutes from historic Asheville, known for its progressive live music, abundant galleries, and vibrant, eclectic nightlife. Also within a short drive is access to countless hiking trails, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Wolf Laurel Ski Resort and famous Penland School of Crafts. This rustic rural region is distinguished by the unusually high number of craftspeople and artisans who call this stunning territory home. During your time at the Yummy Mud Puddle vacation home, you will be in the perfect location to experience the rich and varied culture of this decidedly artistic, yet unmistakably Southern community. Spacious enough for eight, and versatile enough to accommodate couples, families, or singles, the Yummy Mud Puddle vacation house is the perfect fit for a quick getaway to the mountains or a longer retreat. Both the master and floral bedrooms have queen beds and walk-in closets as well as great views and access to the deck. The master bedroom features a private bath with a whirlpool bathtub and separate shower. The third bedroom is perfect for children or single adults with two twin beds, a walk-in closet, sublime jungle motif, and a private door into the bathroom. We now have high speed internet access. Rates are posted for both weekly or nightly rentals. |

Built in 2000, this clean and modern open-plan home features vaulted ceilings, new appliances including washer and dryer, high speed internet access, and an enormous deck complete with large gas grill, rocking chairs, and a spectacular, ever-changing view. A typical Yummy Mud Puddle morning may find you drinking your coffee on the deck and watching the mist as it ascends from the valley into the emerging daylight, then curling slowly into hazy wisps as it dissipates. You’ll be entranced late in the afternoon as the landscape before you shifts again, unhurriedly, and the nimble shadows of clouds chase sunlight across the valley floor. With these amazing views and ample windows throughout the house, the Yummy Mud Puddle is ideal for pleinair painters or bird-watching enthusiasts. Because you are less than a mile from downtown Burnsville, a charming village with several galleries and boutiques as well as grocery, drug and hardware stores, you can absorb the silence and serenity of the mountains without sacrificing the convenience of modern civilization. |

This remarkable vacation home is owned, managed, and fully stocked with great art by local artists Claudia Dunaway and John D. Richards, who live within walking distance from the house. You are welcome in their gallery, where you may purchase Claudia’s beautiful handmade dinnerware or John’s truly singular sculptures. You are also free to wander the grounds, have a chat at the pond, and observe the artists in their natural habitat. Claudia and John are friendly folks who love living here and know you will love visiting. Whether you need directions to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville or a recommendation for a local restaurant, they are happy to help. Claudia will personally prepare the house for your arrival with clean linens, fresh flowers and handmade soaps from a local farm as well as useful information and phone numbers. |
